DESCRIPTION:For nearly 60 years\, the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has been delivering flexible\, hands-on education from the heart of Burnaby. \n\n\n\nJoin BCIT Interim President Paul McCullough to learn more about the future of BCIT and how the Institute and the City of Burnaby are growing together. New student housing\, community hubs\, and public green spaces underpin just some of the major developments planned for BCIT's largest campus.\n\nYou will also hear about how BCIT is partnering with industry and government to fuel workforce development that is actively addressing labour shortages here in Burnaby and across BC. In-demand sectors are taking advantage of BCIT students\, partnerships\, and applied research with impactful results.\n\nWhile economic and inflationary pressures have certainly impacted many businesses across the Lower Mainland\, we know that post-pandemic challenges have disproportionately impacted women\, those with disabilities\, new Canadians\, people living in poverty\, and Indigenous\, Black\, and People of Colour. Learn how BCIT is making progress towards economic growth for all by progressing on Truth and Reconciliation and Equity\, Diversity\, and Inclusion initiatives.\n\n\n\nThis event will also feature the 2023 BBOT Annual General Meeting\, which will be packed with engaging content\, important connections\, and new announcements. His focus is continuing BCIT's commitment to delivering strategic workforce development to support British Columbia's economic prosperity through an applied education model. Under Paul's leadership\, BCIT will continue to advance its provincial role to deliver high-quality education that is accessible and affordable\, contribute to broad-based sustainable economic growth\, and advance the objectives of Reconciliation. Paul has been actively involved in many local community organizations and boards over the years\, most recently with the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education\, where he was also the Chair of the Audit Committee.
