Grants from foundations, governments and other funders are an important source of revenue for many non-profits. In an increasingly competitive environment, certain tips and tricks can make all the difference for organizations seeking funding for programs and initiatives.
This free seminar will provide an overview of the grant-seeking process, including useful tips for approaching potential funders and preparing and refining grant proposals and will provide a picture of what funders are looking for when considering applications.

About our Presenter - Barbara McMillan
Barbara McMillan (All About Impact) focuses on building organizational capacity and fostering strategies for collaboration to increase impact and sustainability. Her experience, including over a decade with both the Vancouver Foundation and Community Foundations of Canada, has honed skills in partnership and network development, governance and planning, networks for change, strategic community investment, grantsmanship, youth engagement, and organizational storytelling which she leverages to offer practical knowledge and tools to assist organizations to increase their capacity and effectiveness.
The courses in grant writing that she developed and teaches through British Columbia Institute of Technology’s Fundraising Management Certificate Program have been popular and highly rated since their inception 15 years ago, as have her workshops on grantsmanship, project planning, fund development, and networks.
Barbara holds a Master of Management Degree (National Voluntary Sector Leaders) fromMcGill University and a BA in Communications from Simon Fraser University, and has completed the BC Instructional Skills Workshop. She has served on numerous boards and advisory committees, most recently Vancity Community Foundation (co-Chair), PLAN Institute for Caring Citizenship (Chair), Cool North Shore, and YouthScape.
