About the South Burnaby Lawn Bowls Club

The South Burnaby Lawn Bowls Club (SBLBC) has functioned in Burnaby for approximately 100 years. It is a not-for-profit organization and operating costs, promotion, game costs are all supported from Members annual dues. Membership is open to all who wish to join and there are Ladies, Men's and Mixed bowls events seven days a week from April to the end of September.
 
The clubhouse has been located in Central Park since 1920. The current clubhouse was opened in 2001 and features a large meeting room and a complete kitchen for social and business functions. Access to the clubhouse if off 4000 Kingsway at Inman Avenue, in Central Park.
 
Lawn Bowls is an ideal recreational sport that can be played by all ages from 10 years and up. Games are played on the outside green where sunshine and fresh air create an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and fellowship.

Membership is $150.00 per year which includes lessons, the use of bowls for the first year, a locker for your bowls, and admittance to all the social events put on by the club, i.e. bar-b-cues - special dinners around major holidays and sports day, special days like St. Patricks and of course a full hot turkey dinner at Christmas time.
 
The clubhouse can also be rented for business and/or social functions and get-togethers such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings.  The green can also be rented for business or social functions as well.  Team-building sessions for competitive organizations and fun sessions to reward employees for achieving special milestones, are among the events that the greens are rented. Family get-togethers for a fun day are also popular.
