About our hosts:

From their proud beginnings in 1943, when The New Vista Society was incorporated, to their latest seniors’ housing development, The New Vista Society has maintained a vision of caring for those in the community who need their help.

As the demographics and needs of the surrounding population has evolved, so has the focus of the Society. Responding to the needs of the community, The New Vista Society today operates a 236-bed Care Home; the Cranberry Cottage Adult Day Program supporting frail seniors living in the community; and provides 540 low cost housing units along with support services for seniors and families in South Burnaby. The New Vista Society currently employs over 250 people.

The New Vista Society is proud to be the first facility in BC to formally adopt the Eden Alternative. The Eden Alternative philosophy is organization-wide and fights the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness and boredom. Residents and staff work together to maintain environments that are enlivened with plants, animals and children. Decision-making happens as close to their residents as possible.

As The New Vista Society continues to celebrate its 70^th year in operation, they are looking forward to building a new Care Home in the next few years to better serve the community by providing the best care possible for the next 70 years.
