Join the Burnaby Board of Trade for this special roundtable discussion with the Honourable Jagrup Brar, Minister of State for Trade and MLA of Surrey-Fleetwood.
Hosting Minister Brar in Burnaby is the Honourable Raj Chouhan, MLA: Burnaby-Edmonds, and Janet Routledge, MLA: Burnaby North. This event is part of Minister Brar's post budget tour, where he will address solutions for the housing and affordability crisis. There will also be an open discussion on different business topics, guests are encouraged to ask a questions and engage during the event.

About Hon. Jagrup Brar
Jagrup Brar was first elected as an MLA in Surrey in 2004, and served until 2013. He was elected again as the MLA for Surrey-Fleetwood in 2017 and 2020. Jagrup previously served as a government caucus chair, and chair of the Special Committee to Review Provisions of the Elections Act and a member of the Special Committee to Appoint the Chief Electoral Officer. While in the official Opposition, Jagrup served as the official Opposition spokesperson for Small Business, Healthy Living and Sport, Employment and Income Assistance, as well Solicitor General and Public Safety.
Born in India, Jagrup was a member of the Indian national basketball team and earned a master's degree in philosophy. He then moved to Canada to study public administration and received an MPA from the University of Manitoba. For over a decade, Jagrup worked in the public and non-profit sectors. As the executive director of the Surrey Self Employment and Entrepreneur Development Society (SEEDS), Jagrup trained new entrepreneurs to develop and launch successful small business ventures. Jagrup has been active in the Surrey community for years. He is a dedicated local volunteer and has worked with a variety of local organizations providing services to young people, seniors, the homeless, and new Canadians. Jagrup is an advocate for the most vulnerable and has undertaken the Welfare Challenge to tell a story about living in poverty in British Columbia. Jagrup lives in Surrey with his wife Rajwant and their two children, Noor and Fateh.
